Will Android 3.0 be available as an upgrade on the Galaxy Tab?

There is no assurance for that approach regarding the Android 3.0. Besides, I am more on the Galaxy Tab instances. Hence, it could be possible to have honeycomb on the Tab though.

I don't think the original Galaxy Tab has the minimum specs to run Android 3.0 effectively so most likely Samsung won't come out with an official upgrade path.  However, I'm willing to bet that there will be a number or 'cracked' versions that you'll be able to find online and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes fairly common for people to put Honeycomb on their 7 inch tabs.  I'm curious if they'll include 3.0 on the new version of the 7 inch tab whenever that comes out.

I actually just read an article where they quoted an executive at Samsung who said there is no requirement of a dual core processor to run Honeycomb so technically it will be possible to put it on the original Galaxy Tab.  It might not run as fast and it might have to have some options turned down or off but technically there's no reason it can't run it in some form.  I'm willing to give it a try!

I'd love to give honeycomb a try for sure, but after a little sniffing around I've found out:

a) that there's no indication of any nature whatsoever from Samsung that they intend on releasing Honeycomb for the original Galaxy Tab; and
b) that it would entail giving up my tab's phone capabilities (barring a fix by android, of course);

Can't speak for the rest of you, but I do use my tab as a back-up phone. That, coupled with having 3g connectivity wherever I go is a huge bonus and I'm pretty sure I would not like to give that up. What I would like is a nice cold ice cream sandwich sometime in the near future...
